Lowdown is established Toronto music journalist Karen Bliss’ long-running column on Canadian musicians or industry personnel. Karen began her career as a trade journalist, writing about the music business for The Record. She has since covered the Canadian concert business for Pollstar and Audience and is presently the Canadian stringer for music biz bible, Billboard. Lowdown ran on canoe.ca/jam for many years. Now Karen is going it alone. The exclusive stories include interviews with A&R, management, publishers, agents, and other key people integral to the artist’s career — including the artist. Besides Billboard, Karen presently writes for MSN, RollingStone.com, AOL, SOCAN’s Words & Music, among others. She also owns Samaritanmag.com, a music-heavy online magazine about people making a difference, and co-owns Daycare Records, whose first signing is The Danger Bees (www.thedangerbees.com).
Karen is funding Lowdown herself. If you are interested in joining the advertisers on the site, please contact info@musiclowdown.com
